MEIT...Serving Government Clients for Over Four Decades
There's a reason MEIT has been around so long. For the past 40+ years, over 400 clients have trusted us to meet their insurance needs. MEIT is a fully insured multiple employer group insurance trust specializing in the unique needs of municipalities, authorities and councils of government throughout Pennsylvania. Established on September 28, 1968, the Trust has served as a means to provide group insurance benefits at the lowest cost to clients. What sets us apart from our competitors is our strong knowledge of government and its very specialized needs. To ensure that we remain in touch with those we serve, we have an active board of nine municipal managers, as well as an advisory board of seven additional managers from communities throughout Pennsylvania.
When looking for either a complete package or products to enhance your employee benefits program, MEIT is able to affordably meet your needs with the following exceptional products:

Killed-in-Service Insurance Policy
In 2002, Act 600 of 1956 (The Municipal Police Pension Law) was amended to require a death benefit of 100 percent of a police officer's salary who is killed-in-service, payable to the spouse for life. While this is an incident that thankfully doesn't occur often, it does, it could have a devastating impace on the pension fund, and ultimately your budget. Our policy protects your pension plan by reimbursing the fund, dollar for dollar, for the payments that have to be paid if an officer participating in the plan is killed-in-service.
